1 out of 5 stars Thin, flimsy and broken   July 20, 2010
Big Daddy (TN)
This case only has three latches on it and they do not work very well. I would consider this to be a disposable item. I used it to take a set of clubs on one trip. On the way out, the latch was mangled because the pins holding the latch easily slide out. I managed to fix this but recognized that I was lucky that I still had a latch. A traveling companion bought this same item and had the same problem with the same latch. On the trip back, the latch was completely broken off. Now, if I want to use this case, I'll have to buy a strap to go around it to keep it from coming open.

Despite what some reviewers found, I find this case to be on the small side. I had to cram a normal-sized bag into it and had no room for my shoes. My traveling companion had to remove his driver from his bag and lay it down the side of the case, subjecting it to being possibly bent if his case were mishandled.

I do not recommend this case at all. Other cases are larger, have more latches and are sturdier.

2 out of 5 stars Broke on the first trip   June 1, 2010

So, I decided to purchase the Plano Golf case last week for a trip this past weekend to protect my clubs while traveling on a plane. Most hard cases are much more expensive probably because that have better clasps. On the first flight it did fine. No damage. On the return flight, however, I found that 2 out of the 3 clasps were broken and the airline had actually zip tied the whole thing shut for me. If the clasps were improved to be more rigid... this would be a great case. I gave it two stars instead of one because it made it one way and if I rig up another way to keep the case closed during flights... I might be able to reuse it... Duct tape can do amazing things...

Overall, it's the only time I ever needed a case to travel... and this product completely failed to deliver. So much for choosing a hard case over a soft one. If you have really nice clubs and want to protect them... go for a more expensive hard case when traveling.

3 out of 5 stars Solid Case - Weak latching mechanism   May 28, 2010
Say Hey (San Francisco, CA)
The case is made of thick plastic - strong enough to shield your clubs from damage. The only issue I found was with the plastic latch mechanism. The latch hook is molded onto the case which easily snapped off. I found the damaged hook upon picking up from baggage claim. The latch broke after only one airline trip. I suspect the TSA broken it after they searched the inside of the box. There is no way to fix the broken latch which renders the box contents less secure since the box lid will not be seat tight along the entire box opening. The latches on the Plano Deluxe Golf Guard case are metal and would provide a more secure and long lasting latching mechanism.

4 out of 5 stars It did the trick   May 21, 2010

I bought one for both my husband and myself. My husbands clubs just barley fit. My one complaint is the buckles. Quite flimsy. We secured them with luggage straps. For the money they were great. If I was going to travel with my clubs frequently I would invest in a better case. For once or twice a year they worked just fine.

3 out of 5 stars Broken latch   May 20, 2010

I just received the case and I found the bottom latch broke. I have yet to use it and already the case is broken. I contacted Plano and hopefully they will honor their product and send me a new latch,
